There are two sectors to the Indian restaurant industry. It  is split into an organized and an unorganized sector. The organized segment is estimated at Rs 148,353 crore. The unorganized segment is estimated at Rs 2, 75,512 crore. The restaurant industry  in India was worth Rs 423,865 crore in 2018–19; and is expected to grow to Rs 5 lakh crore by 2025. Online meal ordering reflects a revolution in the food delivery service industry, which has led to a 35 times rise in funding in the last five years and is expected to continue to grow significantly in the coming years. In India, the market for food technology is projected to be worth $8 billion by 2022. Around 7.3 million people are employed in the food service sector in India.
