The global leather goods market size is valued at $424 billion in 2022 and is expected to reach USD 744 billion by 2030. India is the second largest producer of footwear, second largest exporter of Leather Garments, fifth largest exporter of Leather Goods and third Largest Exporter of Saddlery and Harness items. India’s leather sector supports the livelihood of over 45 lakh people in the country with export realization from the sector being valued at Rs 40,000 crore in 2021. The Government is offering attractive financial support to Start-ups to come up with innovative and market friendly leather products. With innovations, next-generation technologies and brand building India’s leather industry is all set to go the extra mile, while aiming at net-zero carbon footprint. The Indian leather sector also actively promotes social equity and technology utilization in the footwear industry is significantly contributing to women’s empowerment.
