India’s telecommunication industry is the second largest in the world with a subscriber base of 1.17 billion as reported on April 2022 with generous growing trend from both rural and urban area especially in post – COVID era. Overall Tele-density in India has increased from 84.88% to 85.03% during April-22 to May-22 as reported by Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI). As reported, rural Tele-density has increased from 58.16% to 58.37% but urban Tele-density has decreased from 134.70% to 134.66% for the same time period. Telecom sector is the 3rd largest sector in India in terms of Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) inflows, contributing 6.44% of total Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) inflows. The sector generates 2.2 million direct employments and 1.8 million indirect employments in the country. India’s topmost telecom companies are working overnight to undertake one of the fastest roll-outs of 5G services which will boost up economic growth of the country imparting positive impact on the Tele-density in both urban and rural region. This will definitely encourage employment generation in the sector in forthcoming days.
