Indian Railways has one of the largest rail networks in the world, covering 1,23,236 km with 13,523 passenger trains and 9,146 freight trains that transport 23 million passengers and 3.5 MT of freight daily from 7,349 stops. The Indian railways are run by a dedicated 1.2 Million plus Manpower who work around the clock. An industry  of this size offers numerous potential for innovation in many areas of operation. From fields like—technology, operations, commercial, information technology, to human resources—there are countless opportunities to introduce new concepts and innovations to boost performance under Indian railways. A successful and innovative ecosystem, which is essential to the creative process, is one that Indian Railways offer. This ecosystem allows for the free exchange of technology and information between individuals, businesses, and organizations. Recently Cabinet approved policy on long term leasing of Railways Land for implementing PM Gati Shakti framework. The private sector is a major stakeholder in the operational dynamics of the Indian Railways.
