In spite of inflation, sales of consumer durables and FMCG items picked up during this festive season. Sales this year saw volume growth of 20 percent and value growth of over 30 percent. Sales of premium and mid-end products have particularly done well. The festive season also saw a rise in demand for appliances that are easy to use (allowing users to multitask), energy-efficient, connected (smart), and healthy and hygienic. In the FMCG space, according to industry experts, the premium brands grew at a faster rate than the popular brands and popular brands grew faster than the mass brands. People with more disposable income, according to the trends observed in this festive season, are much more resilient and much more resistant to inflation.
