An expert panel has been constituted by the Government to suggest ways for scaling up of Venture Capital (VC) and Private Equity (PE) Investment. The expert committee will examine and suggest appropriate measures to address regulatory and other issues to enable scaling up investments by VC and PE investment. In 2021, private equity and venture capital funds invested USD 77 billion in Indian companies, a jump of 62 per cent over the previous year. The investments facilitated India to become one of the largest start-up and growth ecosystems globally. Scaling up this investment would require a holistic examination of regulatory frameworks. The regulatory frameworks developed by the committee will likely to help in democratizing fundraising and would attract domestic retail and foreign investors to pour funds in Indian companies.
